Not sure what this lady was doing exactly. She was poking her cane at something in the sewer grate I think.
Apple Sketch
Music = Nine Inch Nails/6 Ghosts (excerpt)
Time-lapse of a sketch of some apples. I did this one mostly to work out the details of shooting a time-lapse, but I like the way it turned out.
Here’s a shot of the final drawing:

Hiking is one of my favorite pastimes. In this piece I was trying to capture the essence of a hike in the mountains. Make sure to view large!

(conte crayon on paper) I did this sketch about 2 years ago after attempting a very challenging bushwack up Friday and Balsam Cap mountains in the Catskills, NY. It was snowing pretty hard and it was a slow trudge through deep snow. We didn’t make it to the top but it inspired me to knock off this quick sketch

I haven’t had much time to do any work this past week since we were on vacation. So instead I decided to post this beautiful photo of a cormorant that my wife took. I hope you like it!

Weekend Morning (in progress) on Flickr.
One of my favorite things is having a lazy morning in bed on the weekend with my wife. I still need to do some work on it but I wanted to get something posted this week.

Specter of the Brocken on Flickr.
(14” x 17”; Pen and ink) This drawing was inspired by a passage I read from “Memories, Dreams, Reflections” by Carl Jung: “About this time I had a dream which both frightened and encouraged me. It was night in some unknown place, and I was making slow and painful headway against a mighty wind. Dense fog was flying along everywhere. I had my hands cupped around a tiny light which threatened to go out at any moment. Everything depended on my keeping this little light alive. Suddenly I had the feeling that something was coming up behind me. I looked back, and saw a gigantic black figure following me. But at the same moment I was conscious, in spite of my terror, the I must keep my little light going through night and wind, regardless of all dangers. When I awoke I realized at once that the figure was a “specter of the Brocken,” my own shadow on the swirling mists, brought into being by the little light I was carrying. I knew, too, that this little light was my consciousness, the only light I have. My own understanding is the sole treasure I possess, and the greatest. Though infinitely small and fragile in comparison with the powers of darkness, it is still a light, my only light.”

Ice 1 on Flickr.
I took this while exploring a little stream near Sundown, NY. It was an extremely cold day for the area. I love the elegant patterns that the ice formed as it was freezing.
